I want to dye my hair black with a semi-permanent dye...which brands would you recomend?

My hair's dark brown and I straighten it every day so I don't want to use a permanent dye which I heard does more damage to your hair... I also don't want to have to wait for it to grow out by itself. I was considering getting loreal colour pulse in black but I read some reviews about it and a few people said it turned out purple. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
